Emesto was arrested for the rape and kidnapping of a woman and interrogated for two hours by detectives, police officers, and a prosecuting attorney for two hours until he signed a written confession. He was unaware of his 5th and 6th Amendment rights, which are protection against self-incrimination and rights to an attorney throughout the 2-hour interrogation.
