Interscholastic sports can have important effects on students, schools, and communities. In the textbook, it talks about elitism in sports programs. When schools spend more money on sports, they tend to choose the best athletes who are physically strong and skilled (Sage, et al., 2022, p. 236). They don’t consider those who might not be as good at traditional sports. This can make some students feel excluded and unfair in school because only a few students can participate in interscholastic sports.
