Title US and USSR space race

Define and justify My research topic is about the space race which is significant because it was a turning point during the Cold War, fulfilled JFK's promise, gave the US a lead in the space race, the 3 astronauts: Armstrong who was quiet so he rarely talked about the moon landing and later became a professor/chairmen for a computer company, Buzz Aldrin who was witted had a nervous breakdown but recovered and became a professor while Collins published an account of a space voyage all were affected to varying degrees, and the three astronauts were all

Aims

1. What is the Cold War's influence on the space race?

2 US and USSR spacecraft

3. Analyze the effect the space race had on the world and the technology it

Gemini 3 started on March 23, 1955, completed 3 orbits and tested heat modules.

Gemini 4 June 1965 completed first space walk and stayed for 4 days.

Gemini 5 lasted for 8 days tested renezv started on 21st august.

Gemini 6 December 1965 tested rendezv procedures.

Gemini 7 December 4th 1965 manned space flight that proved humans can stay in space for 2 weeks and return.

Gemini 8 March 16 1966 docked with unmanned spacecraft.

Gemini 9 June 1966 completed 45 orbits over 3 days docking for this project wasnt possible due to the nose condition.

Gemini 10 July 1966 used 2 Saturn rocket engines to move both parts of lander.

Apollo 4 launched on November 49 1967, it lasted 8 hours in space before returning.

Apollo 5 launched on January 22nd 1968 Lunar Module Mission objectives were to perfect the ascent and descent stages, the propulsion systems evaluate the spacecraft structure Lunar module staging and orbital performance.

Apollo 6 launched on April 4th 1968 it returned back to earth after 9 hours it did an unmanned test of Saturn V rockets the main goal was to place the 3 stages to earths orbit.

Apollo 7 launched on October 11th to October 22nd 1968 when it landed this was the first command service module with a crew the rocket orbited the earth 163 times.

Apollo 8 was carrying the success of the other Apollo projects it launched in December 21st to December 27th 1968 this took the astronauts around the moons orbit however it couldn’t land on the moon due to the lunar module not having its land legs yet or having a defined launch pad along with the moons rotation not aligning at the time the astronauts learned that the timing will need to be perfect so would the trajectory because there was a blind spot on the moons orbit that was weaker along with working on the lunar
