Go into the shoes of a star High school athlete for a second and imagine you have two choices, go to college, get no pay, and waste 1-4 years of your already brief pro career, or you can go straight to the pros, get paid Millions of dollars, get a lot better coaching and twice the fame. Seems like an easy choice right? Cause it is, and for most high level high school athletes the appeal of going pro is too great, although rules are in place to prevent this, currently many people are disagreeing with it and most officials say these rules will be revoked in the next 5 years.Then most stars will then outright ignore college going straight to the pros, and this is supported by now Pro Players who benefited nothing from going to college nothing, Lack of reasons to do college, and risk of injury. …show more content…
Now Pro Point Guard for the Philadelphia 76ers and Rookie of the Year Candidate Ben Simmons was one of those players who had to endure the one and done rule, forcing him to play 1 year at Louisiana Southern University (LSU) for no pay. Simmons has said in an interview with CBS’s Maverick Carter “I don’t really know what I learned” and when asked why he believed they had the one and done rule, he said “If we didn't, a lot of people would be losing money. So I think that's the main reason.
