Have you ever noticed that school lunches are a lot smaller than they should be? Many students think this to be true and in return end up walking away from lunch, still hungry. School lunches need to give bigger portions of food to the students since it can improve their focus, while also giving them the calories and energy they need. A larger, more sustainable portion of food would result in the kids being able to focus. In the passage it says, “There should be larger portions, because when kids don’t have proper nutrition, they lack focus.” Many students tend to be unfocused due to the fact that they are unable to have the right amount of nutrition in their lunch. This is around a third of the amount of calories a student needs throughout their day. Lunch should be able to supply the body with the energy and nutrients it needs at that time of the day, however they currently do not, therefore this needs to change. Some people would argue that bigger lunch portions would cost a lot more money. Given that might be the case, schools can appeal for different grants or do fundraisers and bake good sales to help raise funds to go towards school lunches.
