Josiah Jasonn Mr. David English I 3-12-24 Title The story “The Leap” by Louise Erdrich is about a mother, Anna, who lost her first daughter in a circus disaster,but she was able to save her second daughter from a house fire.Anna was a part of a group named the “Flying Avalons”,she was in mid air when lighting struck and she thought her husband was there to catch her but he wasn't.Anna saved herself by grabbing onto a wire,but she lost the was in the house fire. However,this time she was able to save her daughter.The theme of the story is that mothers will do anything to protect their children at any cost,even putting themselves in harms way.

As the story progresses, the narrator uncovers the truth behind her mother's seemingly miraculous survival,
