Solitary confinement should not be used as a form of retribution against inmates since it is an unproductive rehabilitation strategy as well as harmful to the human mind. Being in complete isolation for too long can lead anyone to do the unexpected. Sarah Jo Pender, a woman previously inside solitary confinement, shares her disturbing experiences observing fellow inmates.
