Blanche was very emotionally unstable because her sister does not pay attention to her so she starts weeping and talking about how she will leave soon. Then Stella gets a bottle coke and hands Blanche a glass then “Stella pours the coke into the glass. It foams over and spills” Stella just fills the glass to the top and it over flows and it falls onto Blanche’s dress (Williams 94). Stella gives Blanche her hanky to clean it up and she does, although the dress still has a stained, which is symbolic. The dress was white originally showing that Blanche was innocent, and now that it has a stain it is no longer completely white. Referring that Blanche is not as innocent as she was when she arrive. On a dress, especially white, once it gets dirty it could be clean, however there will always have a spot that is not possible to remove. Blanche in a way is the same, she has this whole dark past that she can not erase because it follows her wherever she goes. The guilt she has of her affair with the kid and her husband committing suicide follows her and she can not let it go. The guilt is what does not leave her which in a perspective on the dress the stain would represent her guilt. In addition to the dress becoming ruin, the actual glass she was holding has the same idea. Glass, as we all know, is clear and you can see right through it, however when something is pour in it you can not see through it as well. The color of the beverage chosen to be pour in the glass is significant. The beverage that was pour was coke. The color of the coke is brown which is important. The color brown signifies dirty and unclear. The glass is clear and when the coke is pour the only thing seen is the glass cup is the coke and you can not see the other side of the glass. Blanche is like the glass that she is all clear by appearance but once the truth is reveal the reality
