Get Up, Get Moving - Investigation and Profile
How did you find the information you needed for this investigation?
I found the information needed for this investigation by using the website provided, along with my own internet research; skimming through websites (making sure they were reliable) and copying and pasting it onto the investigation document before editing it
I tried to use information from well-known sites such as BBC, as well as using health websites.
What searches did you use and how did you refine them so you got the information you wanted?
I started my search first of all by copying the questions I needed to research, I then refined them by using quotation marks in the search engine i.e.
"exercise activities" for different "age groups"
What feedback did you get from your teacher and test buddy?
Test Buddy: Lawrence has included a lot of necessary information, as well as including some information which will be useful to refer back to whilst doing the other parts of the activity; however it isn’t particularly relevant to the Investigation task.
What action did you take as a result of the feedback?
Logo
Explain your design for the logo. Did you use animation or a strap line?
I used a strap line as my logo.
How did you create the original image you needed?
I used paint and used the shapes provided on the program i.e. hearts, circles, lines etc.
What did you do to make the logo suitable for use in a range of digital products?
I made the logo as simple as possible, using a heart and a heart monitor symbol to represent health.
What feedback did you get from your teacher and test buddy?
Test Buddy: I think the logo is quite good. The word “Get up, Get moving” has been used the special effect, may be you can change the colour of heart rate to light blue colour, since the colour of the logo look like only green colour.
Teacher FB: Good logo, well designed and thought through. Works well with the coursework team and represents the idea of being healthy and fit very well. I like using capitals for the ‘UP’ part of the slogan.
What action did you take as a result of the feedback?
I changed the border colour of the Logo and the heart rate colour to grey. Now the 3 colours that make up the logo are grey, green & red.
What else could you do to improve the design?
I could improve the design by instead of using a heart to represent health, I could include somebody exercising or gym equipment to represent the “get up, get moving” slogan.
Database
Explain the processes you used by answering the questions.
What search methods did you use when you looked for information about specific activities and the number of calories they burn so you could complete the database? What did you search for? What keywords did you use?
Which records did you complete? Add a screen shot if you wish.
I used google to search for calorie calculators that provided the amount of calories burned from a particular sport at the weight of 55kg/121lbs for 60 minutes. I then used the calorie calculator to find out the information.
I searched “calorie calculator” and the sport I wanted to calculate. I put the sport in speech marks as well to refine the search.
Did you have any difficulties when you searched for this information?
I didn’t have any difficulties with searching the sports provided, however when it came to choosing my own sports I wanted to choose an unusual choice; it was hard to find a calorie calculator for some of these sports.
How did you make sure that the information was useful and reliable?
I compared two sites together, checked to see if the website had http:// and had an icon in the left of the web-address bar to see if it was official. Also,
