Have you ever read a story that has been interminable, captivating, and ghastly all at once? Well, that’s exactly what Aldous Huxley accomplished in his book “Brave New World.” Huxley gives a view of the future and how drastically transformed everything is. Bernard Marx, the main protagonist, oddly he is considered an outsider in a world where everyone is supposed to fit in and possess a certain class. There are ultimately five castes Alphas, Gammas, Betas, Deltas, and Epsilons. These castes are to help the system run more smoothly. First, are the Alphas who are intelligent, tall, and strong. So, people discovered a way to keep all the non-Alphas from becoming smart was to give them hazardous substances like alcohol and oxygen derivatives. Lowers castes, such as the Epsilons were grown in batches of 100. Therefore, one batch of Epsilons were exact copies of one another. Bernard felt as though he had no real place to fit in, although, he was born into the Alpha caste. Respect was given freely to other Alpha’s but he felt as if he must earn/fight for respect. Huxley did make me think however, I thought, “what if our world now was heartless, godless, and robotic in a sense?” Even though I would never pick this book outside of class, Huxley did a marvelous job at keeping my interest as a reader. At times, I found the book hard to follow due to the arduous side of science imported. This book was crafted by a visionary who wanted to make a world completely distant from the one we partake in today, and Huxley accomplished just that. I would recommend this book to someone who is looking to read a fearlessly written book about a scary adventure through an offset world of absurdities and enticing
