One reason she is determined is because she fought for women’s rights. She thought it wasn’t just that men could do more things than women and wanted to prove the world wrong. Also, she spoke a speech about women’s rights called “A Woman’s Place in Science.” (Eloquent Woman) Her speech talked about how she appreciated science and flying and wanted to connect women in both. Another reason she is persistent is because she never gave up on following her dreams. Amelia Earhart did the impossible and made it possible. “She was also the first person to make the crossing twice, and set records for the longest non-stop flight distance and fastest speed.” (Hoffmann) This sentence shows that it was difficult for women to cross the Atlantic Ocean by herself, except for Amelia Earhart. Amelia Earhart also set many records and had several accomplishments. “In April of 1935, she set a speed record on a solo flight from Los Angeles to Mexico City and then set another record from Mexico City to New York.” (Amelia Mary Earhart) Another record she set was on her first trip and it was 14,000 feet above the ground. Earhart had numerous more records. The final reason is because she was persistent to learn to fly and get an airplane. “’Dad,’ she said, pointing to a young man in uniform, ‘ask that officer how long it takes to [learn to fly].’” (Fleming 34) Her dad hesitated to let her fly on an airplane. She encouraged people to follow their dreams. She never stopped believing in herself and set goals for herself. When she decided to fly around the world, she believed that she and Noonan could do it. “Stimulated by her Hawaii flight, Earhart set herself a new goal, to fly around the world at (or near) the Equator, something never before attempted.” (Amelia Mary Earhart) She didn’t give up on her dreams and attempted to do many things. She tried many extreme routes successfully achieved her goals. Finally, Earhart was very determined. One way she showed that she was determined was when she became a nurse’s aide to help people. “After high school, she became a nurse's aide in Canada during World War I, since she was deeply moved by the suffering of wounded soldiers returning home from the war.” (Hoffmann) She was a nurse’s aide because she was determined to help people, but it didn’t go that well and she only stayed for a year. She was determined to try new things and routes. One example is when she participated in the Women’s Air Derby. “She flew the Vega in the first Women's Air Derby across the United States and came in third.” (Amelia Mary Earhart) Three things that make up the inspirational part of Amelia Earhart are that she encouraged people to chase their dreams, she didn’t give up on her own dreams, and she was determined to try new things. The three leadership qualities of Amelia Earhart are brave, tenacious, and
