Andrew Jacksons presidency began in 1824 after winning with his “common man” campaign. His background of being from a poor family, and working his way to the top by serving in the country’s military forces won over the United States. Though during Jacksons presidency, one of the largest slave revolts in recorded U.S. history took place. This revolt was lead by a slave named Nat Turner, who was even believed to be a prophet by some. Despite the devastation Turner may have caused among white people, how does he related to Andrew Jacksons presidency despite never meeting him? Jacksons vision of a better life in the U.S. involved the population being self-sustainable by having the country consist mostly of farmlands rather than corporations.
