Annie Oakley was born in Darke county Ohio on August 13 1860.Her real name was Phoebe ann moses, she was remembered as one of the leading women of the wild west.Both moses father and her stepfather died when she was a child of pneumonia she and her sister sarah ellen went to live at the Darke county infirmary,where they both received schooling and sewing instructions while helping in the care of mentally ill,elderly and also orphaned children.Her talent came to her when she was 15 and won a shooting contest against her future husband Frank E butler. In her family she was six of 7 siblings, her talent first came to her at age 15. Her first father jacob moses fought in the war of 1812 and died of cold weather. Her nickname was “little sure shot” By Chief sitting bull (she was only 5 feet tall).Annie oakley had very little education which was at the Darke county infirmary to learn sewing and received schooling which she used which used to make her own costumes. Some amazing things she could do were that she could shoot a dime 90 feet up in the air. She also donated a lot of her money for women's cancer charity. She spent her free time learning to shoot new guns and practicing.She was a famous sharpshooter and actor.At one of her shows she met Frank E. butler they were both shoting in a contest she hit all twenty-five targets and he only 24 out of 25 targets met back stage and fell in love they then traveled together and got married.Later on in life during her retirement ,Oakley had different hobbies such as hunting and fishing and taught makership to other women.
