Arguments Against Obesity

One of the hardest task for some people is to convince others of something, or simply make them see that something which those others are missing, or they are simply choosing to ignore. Now, what would be the best way to succeed in such a task? Some may argue that actions are the best way. Take the example of any great military leader in ancient history, they were followed not because of their name, but because of they accomplish with their actions. Some other will have a more hands-off approach by carefully articulating their points of view, and backing these points of view with factual arguments. In this work, we are going to evaluate the effectiveness of the arguments made by Chris Woolston in an article referring to the obesity problem that is facing America.

According to an article in the American Heart Association (2016), “[...] Nearly 78 million adults and 13 million children in the United States deal with the health and emotional effects of obesity every day [...]”. Another one of the good reasoning arguments made by the author is the one that proposed that calorie intake is dependent on the age and activity level of each individual. The term calories refer essentially to units of energy to the human body. Now, it is really simple to deduct that the energy required by a professional athlete to perform is definitely not the same that the amount of energy required by an elderly person because of the enormous difference in physical activity levels. Another place where Woolston makes a great argument is when he mentions that moderation is the key to weight control. This argument is based on a matter of basic math; if an individual consumes more calories than the ones he uses on daily basis, that individual is going to gain weight. The opposite situation to this is also
