A PDP can help a care worker identify improvements in their knowledge, understanding and practice by outlining their professional aims and direction. It aids development by monitoring and assessing over a set period of time so that it is easily visible to them what they need to learn /improve and when it will be achieved. It allows them to plan how to achieve each goal and a set time to achieve it by.

Biii Identify sources of support for planning and reviewing your development.

The supervision process in the workplace is a good source for reviewing your development. It is wise to be prepared for office supervision to get the most benefit from it. Reflecting on your work practices will help you let your employer know which areas you have identified as needing improvement and discuss opportunities for further training in those areas. The outcomes of your supervision can help you plan how you want to move forward and plan your PDP.
