Jamestown was a colony developed by Bartholomew Gosnold in May of 1607. Jamestown is the base of what made our nation today our nation today. Although Bartholomew Gosnold colonized Jamestown in 1607 he died shortly after they got there in 1607. Jamestown was a colony surrounded by hostile Indians which was why it lasted only 13 short years. Jamestown was a fort in which the colonists rarely left. They rarely left because of the hostile Indians attacks. In 1609 the colony started to get sick and run out of food. They were sick because they got salt water poisoning.
