I agree with Emily on her point that Carrie is King's most developed character because as she goes through high school, and life, with the constant bullying from her classmates and even her mother, she continues to not lash out in violence; until, of course, the violent prom night. I believe Carrie is a coming-of-age character, the only one in the entire novel. The beginning of her growth started on page 6, when she first started her period. This, not only symbolizes the start of her womanhood, but the "beginning of the end." Carrie disobeys her mother throughout the novel, but as the story continues, she becomes bolder in her actions.
