1. Determine what supplies and equipment should be assembled for the following specialty examinations; fecal occult blood testing, performing an eye instillation, performing an ear irrigation, and performing color vision testing.

Supplies or necessary items for fecal occult blood testing: Three occult slide test kits containing three slides, applicators, and an envelope.

Supplies or necessary items for an eye instillation: Sterile eye dropper for single use, Medication as ordered by the provider, nonsterile disposable gloves, and tissues.

Supplies or necessary items for color vision testing: Ishihara plates (1-12) and measuring tape.

Supplies or necessary items for an ear irrigation: Sterile irrigation solution as ordered by the provider, (may be just warm water with Hydrogen Peroxide) warmed to 98.6-103 F, none disposable gloves, kidney-shaped or emesis basin, sterile basin, impervious pad to protect the patient’s clothing bulb syringe or spray bottle provided by the provider one used specifically for this purpose.

Measures taken for safety precautions in advance in case there is a severe allergy reaction during testing are:
On (pg. 790) it talks about the dangers to look for during allergy testing because the body can quickly show signs of severe allergic reactions and they can be life threatening if not treated immediately. Look for swelling, urticaria (hives), pruritus, (itchy skin), and redness of the skin. A serious allergy reaction can cause Anaphylaxis a systemic reaction to the circulatory systems like the skin, digestive system, respiratory system, and cardiovascular
