What is the Northern Gateway Pipeline? The Northern Gateway pipeline is a project that involves building a new twin pipeline system running from Edmonton, Alberta to a marine terminal in Kitimat, British Columbia. This pipeline is to export oil and import condensate. However the Northern Gateway Pipeline project requires building the twin pipe through some of the untouched land in Canada, which is a home to countless animals and insects. The Northern Gateway Pipeline is theorized to raise great expectations for jobs and the economic development despite the fact, there is a debate currently happening about the benefits the project incorporates. The debate goes between choosing the economy or the environment. There are people who do not agree to go through with the …show more content…
Aboriginal's lands are going to be seized from them for the billion dollar project. However if the project begins the Northern Gateway is promising to give one billion dollars in benefits to the First Nations. The objective of the pipeline is to build up Canadian revenue. Although it will build up revenue the price of crude oil for Canadians will jump up a notch. In the Muse Report, it states with the pipeline Canadians will be compelled to pay three more dollars for every barrel of crude oil. Keep in mind as the price pushes up there will be a decrease in family purchasing, On the other hand there will be more jobs for Canadians, but it will only be in the oil Industry; therefore, there will be higher rates of unemployment in the non oil industry. Pushing the negative aspects aside the Muse report predicts that within the ten years of the project twenty-eight billion dollars will originate in a net of Canadian benefits. It will deliver more jobs in the oil industry and the revenue will have thrive significantly. The aspiration of the Northern Gateway project is to increase the revenue with crude oil for Canadian consumers. In my opinion I conclude the pipeline
