When I was a teenage kid –I vividly remember hoping and praying for my facial hair to start growing. In my mind, that would have made me look older and more of a catch for the high school girls. Then, a few years after high school, I decided to join the US Navy. I had no idea how something so simple as shaving was going to become an annoying daily routine for me. I really had such a hard time adjusting to the military lifestyle during the first few months that I miss the good ole days from my time when I was a civilian. Equally important are the dreaded weekly haircuts that also result in out-of-pockets expenses. I remember while being with friends who were not in the military -they had this carefree attitude about their hair. I would envy the fact that they could afford to go weeks without getting a haircut, while I had to incur that weekly expense.
