The Science, Technology, and Engineering Preparatory Academy (STEP) Charter School is co-ed, combined charter school in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Around 200 pupils are enrolled at SACS, and the student-to-teacher ratio is 14:1. The gender division is 59 percent female and 41 percent male. Classes are held for students in grades 6 through 12. The results of state assessment tests show 50 percent of pupils are proficient in Mathematics and 35 percent are proficient in English. Based on its state assessment scores and its ability to prepare pupils for college, SACS received a bronze medal national ranking from US News and World Report. It is also ranked among Minnesota schools statewide. SACS is also a Minnesota Board of Education Celebration School. The ultimate goal of SACS is to give pupils a head start preparing for professions in the Science, Technology, and Mathematic (STEM) fields. SACS is on a five-year review schedule for any curriculum changes. The current curriculum includes classes in Reading/Language Arts, Arabic, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Mathematics. In addition to its regular classroom curriculum, SACS uses Study Island, Apex, and IXL Online Instruction programs. To earn a high school diploma from SACS, pupils must have 21.5 credits in required classes which are in Language Arts, Mathematics, World Languages, Social Studies, Science, Fine Arts, Health, and Physical Education.
