Ever since I was a child I have always had a passion for chemistry. I find it quite intriguing how molecules and atoms react with one another. When I was a young little child, I was fascinated and curious about why chemical reactions occur the way they do. For example, I still to this day am enthralled by the way blue litmus paper turns the colour red when placed in an acidic solution. I believe I am a great candidate for the Chemical Process Engineering program because I am a person who is motivated to learn and thrives by setting goals for myself. My strong drive and passion for chemistry allowed me to excel in my senior years of high school. In my final year of high school, I was given the award for being the top student in Chemistry 12. …show more content…
I was determined to create a working hot air balloon and tried countless designs until eventually, I was finally successful. This project opened my mind and I was amazed by the chemical reactions that had to take place for the balloon to overcome the forces of gravity and lift itself into the sky. From this experience, my tenacity and love for learning physics and chemistry have shown me that I do have the competencies to succeed in this field of study.
From all the first-year courses I took this year, Chem 154 was easily the class I enjoyed the most. I loved how the course was broken up into a theoretical and practical portion. I was always engaged in each class and that helped maximize my learning experience. Furthermore, I enjoyed the lab portion of this class because it gave me hands-on experience and allowed me to visually see the concepts taught in class and how they connected to the real world. Due to my passion for chemistry and my attention to detail, the course material came easily to me and I was able to excel in this
