Yes he made it to Alaska, but he didn’t plan on dying there. Chris impacted many while he was on his journey and he made meaningful relationships with them, but he didn’t really leave that motivation for others. In Death of an Innocent by Jon Krakauer, he states “According to the conventional wisdom he was simply one more dreamy, half-cocked greenhorn who went into the bush expecting to find answers to all his problems and instead found nothing but mosquitos and a lonely death.” This proves how Chris didn’t leave much motivation to others, for many he was just another person who didn’t make it going to Alaska. If he would have made it back from Alaska to tell his story others would find it more inspirational.
All in all, Adam Shepard and Chris McCandless had many differences and similarities. Shepard did more than just achieve the American dream. He purchased a used truck, rented and furnished an apartment , got a good job, earned over $5000, and left a lasting impression on the people he met on his journey and on the ones reading his story. Of course, there are different factors and challenges that apply to everyone but he still succeeded. Shepard believed in himself he exceeded his expectations and went above and beyond the goals he set. He shows that determination and hard work can help achieve any goals in
