You may have heard of Rosa Parks, but have you heard of Claudette Colvin? Well, Claudette Colvin is just as important as Rosa Parks. Colvin was Parks's inspiration, which led to the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Claudette Colvin was born in Birmingham, Alabama but grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, where buses were segregated, meaning that black people had to leave their seats when white people got on. She possessed courage, strength, and positivity. On March 2nd 1955, at age 15, she was dragged off the bus by two police officers for refusing to give up her seat to white people when she was asked by the bus driver. She stood on her ground.
