In Ender’s Game the bugger species is wiped out by Ender and his team of commanders. He said, “I didn’t want to kill them all.”(Card 297) Ender hadn’t known he had just eliminated a whole species, and therefore it was technically an accident, but what had been done couldn’t be changed. The buggers and the humans fought because there were no means of communication available. In the movie the humans try to assassinate Klaatu but Gort ends up rescuing him, even if only for the time being. Helen screams to Gort, “Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!”(Wise). Klaatu already knows what the humans will most likely do and plans his task beforehand. He tells Helen to yell ‘Klaatu barada nikto’ so Gort can save him at a crucial moment and no time is wasted when he is about to give his speech. Klaatu dies while trying to give the message of peace to Earth, but most likely he dies in peace, knowing his assignment was completed.
