Once Savitri finds a prince she finds he doesn’t know he is royalty and has parents who are blind because of a spell. Sir Gawain and the Loathly Lady, Retold by Selina Hastings, a story with characters of an ugly woman and a knight named Arthur. When Arthur feels frustrated a loathly lady asks to help out, but only with a catch, he must find one of his best knights to marry her. The theme in Savitri and Santayana is to never give up on the people you love, no matter if their family or not. One way they are similar us because they both have characters with a spell set on them. In Savitri and Satyana, Satyana's parents are blind because someone set it on them. Sir Gawain and the Loathly lady, the loathly lady has a spell set on her to become ugly, the only way the spell can be broken is marriage. These two stories are similar because someone has used power to take something away from them, either beauty or sight. Another way that they are similar is they both involve people getting married and its influenced by someone. The story with the loathly lady, Arthur marries them two because that will break the spell. In Savitri and Satyana, Savitri's parents tell her she is allowed to marry whoever she wants so she sets out to find out the perfect man, she finds Satyana and they fall in love. Both stories show that love comes in different forms. Lastly, they are both based off of things that couldn’t potentially happen today. A lady couldn’t have spell set on her to be ugly and to only be broken after marriage.
