The article I chose to review and read was the Cupitt, Getting the Horrors. The bases of this articles is explaining religion and how religion can improve and become more modern. I am Catholic, born and raised. I decided as a young adult that I would continue to follow the Catholic faith. After reading this article I agreed with some of the authors “arguments” and I was open to some of the other “arguments”. I found it very interesting that a religious person or believer of God was described as a person that sees themselves as the focus of a war between good and evil. “Every soul is a cosmic battleground for the supernatural.” As a religious person I will have to say that I do sometimes feel that I am fighting a war against evil. I don’t completely agree but I don’t completely disagree. I think that when you believe in God you should spread his word and message. You want to be the person who helps open others minds about God and bring more good in this world. This goes back to fighting the spiritual was against bad and evil. I don’t continually speak about God all of the time because I do respect those that don’t believe in God. I am continually praying for those around me. Such as, people on the side of the highway fixing a flat tire or while watching the news and hearing of tragedy. Another argument that I felt was very interesting was that the author said that religious people feel that they need to keep the supernatural in mind and consult with an invisible higher power. I can say that every large decision that I make involves prayer and a talk with God. I consult him and ask that he bless me and help me obtain whatever I may be trying to achieve and if this is not part of his greater plan that I will not lose faith in him or his plans for me. I know that he is “invisible” to all of his followers but that doesn’t mean that I will stop consulting
