Nothing fancy or all that charming, but the room would suffice. Most of the comforts of home are available here such as a bed, cable television, and an armchair among other things to make the stay comfortable. Illuminated by the soft glow of a computer monitor, the off-white walls are graced by pictures of tranquil nature scenes. Another chair covered in vibrant fabric sits next to the bed. Located on the thirteenth floor, the view is an amazing one: tranquil Forest Park to the west, the Mighty Mississippi to the East, and a bustling metropolis in-between. This room has seen guests come and go, but for some it holds a special place as they have been coming here longer than they care to remember. These guests do not come here by choice but because they have to. If choice were an option, they would rather be anywhere else. However, choosing not to come would be mean eventual death. These special guests are patients with Cystic Fibrosis and the thirteenth floor of Barnes Jewish Hospital has been like a home to them for years.

Along with constant hospital stays, Cystic Fibrosis patients go through an intense regimen of treatments in an effort to keep their lungs clear.
