Would you dodge the draft?

Imagine walking through the grass at night not knowing where your enemy is and watching your friend step on a booby trap watching spikes go through his foot this is what it was like in the Vietnam war. The Vietnam war took place in Vietnam in 1954 and ended in 1975. America sided with the South the most fighting off the North when they were invading. The Americans joined the war to prevent the spread of communism from coming to the south. Neither sides were winning for a while death after death there wasn’t much progression. I would try to dodge the draft because I wouldn’t want to die, were already losing the war and the war will not end soon.

According to document B Walter Cronkite he says “ To say that we are mired in stalemate seems the only realistic, yet unsatisfactory, conclusion.” He also says “ For every means we have to escalate, the enemy can match us, and that applies to invasion of the North.” This shows how people thought the war would never end or progress because no one could match each other and once we matched them they would match us and it would go in a consistent loop. According to document E the image shows the liberty bell cracked and filled with Vietnam this image is showing how the war is separating America. The people in the war thought the people back home were doing the wrong thing and the people protesting thought the people fighting did the wrong thing. All of this started the conflict of separating America because of the war. According to document I Senator Eugene McCarthy thought we weren’t winning and it wouldn’t be over soon. He also wanted to progress in the war and go further. This document shows how there was no certain loss or victory. This shows how I would dodge the draft because there would be no point in joining the war if there was no certain victory or
