The Scopes trial represents a change in morals and values because the people were being logical. They wanted to base their teachings on facts and reason. However, the government wanted to prevent the change in beliefs. In the Scopes trial, John T. Scopes, a teacher was tried for reading a part of Darwin’s evolutionary theory to his class. During the trial, Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan spent their time trying to disprove each other. Darrow, Scopes attorney was not allowed to present scientific evidence to support Darwin’s theory. In the end, Scopes was fined a 100 dollars for disobeying the law.
