Saturday, June 3, was a day Shane Holladay and Cameron Ramirez will always be proud of, as they reflect back on the day they became official Eagle Scouts.
Having received merit badges that demonstrated their leadership abilities and completing a service project for the benefit of the community, Holladay and Ramirez’s red scarf was removed, for a dark blue one.
“One of the most wholesome moments and significant movements in history in a young boy’s life is to one day have an eagle scout court of honor and bestowed the rank of an Eagle,” President Tom Crook said.
“All who know you rejoice in your achievement.”
Presented a plaque and a shiny, silver coin to commemorate their stewardship to both their country and God, the new scouts were charged by Cody Holladay to dedicate their skills and abilities for the common good.

Giving back to the community, as a requirement to become an eagle, Ramirez built plant boxes for the workers of Sheltering Wings to produce their very own vegetables this summer.
“I thought it was a very cool thing to do,” Ramirez said.
In addition, Holladay took the initiative to install and fix the broken fences at the Colorado River Fairgrounds, to which he said the board and directors were very happy for the work done.
Having materials left over, Holladay thought it would be an even better idea to donate the rest of the materials, in case the fences or anything on the grounds needed tend to in the future.
Brought up to share a few words about the young men’s qualities and how he watched them evolved, Brother Ray of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said it was an honor being both Ramirez’s and Holladay’s scoutmaster when they were 13-years-old.
