Which, was fine for that day because all I was doing was folding T-shirts for an upcoming event. The next few days, when I returned to work, I was hoping for a more formal training. I was shocked when this really did not happen. I thought that a business that has been around since the 1930’s would have some kind of training in place. This had left me very confused, and I learned as I went along, asking whomever for help with the different databases, phone usage, and how to use the other office equipment. I had learned a lot, figuring things out on my own. It gave me a real hands-on experience, so that I did not forget how to use the different equipment. However, if I was properly trained on everything, I could have worked more efficiently and possibly gotten more work completed right from the beginning. According to Workready- Skills and Employment there are both benefits for the business and workers, when employees receive proper training. Through training, an employee will be able to understand their work environment, which allows them to work safely, productively, and more in unison with other procedures and co-workers. For this reason, I decided to create a training check-list for the United Way staff to use when training new interns. This way the interns will be more productive and contribute to the team more
