As I walked out of the shoe store were shoes were getting fixed, I was trying to decide if I should go to the baker or the grocery shop where I needed potatoes for my mother. I went on ahead to the baker for some pita bread then for my potatoes. I hated going to the grocery store because the clerk is always grumpy, but I had to go. When I arrived I left my shoes next to some wooden racks outside the store. I came in and said “Hello McLovin I need some potatoes.” He didn’t say a word and just gave me a plastic bag then he continued reading his paper. I went to the back to grab the potatoes and I saw him talking with a homeless man looking for garbage bags I didn’t listen so I just continued picking out potatoes.
“Hello sir with your permission” said the homeless man, the man carefully collect everything he saw next to the racks and accidently snatch the bag that had Eli’s shoes in.
“See you.” Said McLovin as the homeless man walked away with the kart full of stuff I went to pay for the groceries and went looking for my shoes but they weren’t there, I moved the racks to see if they had gone in between them but they weren’t there. I had to go home for dinner, when I got home I told my brother had happened he said,
“I won’t tell but how are you going to go to school and you know dad doesn’t have any money to buy new shoes.” I felt bad for Eli because she stared to cry so I quickly explained “Don’t worry sister you can use my pair of sneakers.” She stopped crying and said, “Those are the only pair of sneakers you have, how you will go to school?”
“Run back home ill meet you at the door of the house” I stated, it worked out almost perfect because we went school at different times of the day, she had school in the morning with girls only, and at 12:15 in the afternoon I went to a school with boys only. The only problem was she let out at 12:00 and had to run from school in time so that I could give her sandals and she could give me my shoes. I had only 15 mins or less depending on the time she got home to get to school. The first few days she got home a little late but I could just make it in time to school and the director was keeping an eye on me for does couple of days because I was arriving 1-2 mins late.
As she ran home one day she lost one shoe in a water way and got stuck through a canal, she started to wimp and one man came to help her and got a hold of the shoe. When she got home I barked, “Why you are so late and why is the one shoe wet?” She replied, “My foot is too small for these shoes.” I realized I had only 3 mins to get to school and I ran as fast as I could but I was really late and when I got there the director of the school was waiting for me at the door. He told me to go home and next time I’m late they will talk to my parents, so I just walked away. I was so angry at my sister but I she is my sister after all so I had to help her. The next few days she came early and I got to school on time but I was always in a rush and arrived to school out of breath. While I was in school I observed the running try outs from the window I was interested but I didn’t have time for it until, a couple of days went by and there was an announcement of kids with the best endurance, they mentioned five but it didn’t caught my eye until they mentioned the prizes of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The 1st prize was two weeks of camp and sports clothing, the 2nd was 2 weeks of camp and school supplies, and the 3rd prize was one week of camp and a pair of shoes. I wanted to go try out but they were over so I went to the coach and asked him personally. I had to beg him and I
