Life Change and Passionate Job I always thought that job was just the way of making money for living. It is the sign of adult that you can stand on your own feet showing you are independent. I can learn so many things from working. I can learn how to be a responsible person, how to handle my own finance, how to interact with people and how to independently live in the society. After I was working, I started to complain about my job, my co-worker, and my working environment. It makes me remember the quotes of Confucius, who was an influential Chinese philosopher, teacher and political figure known for his popular aphorisms and for his models of social interaction, he said “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” (no date, p. 1). It is very true that if you are love and passionate about your job, you will do and try harder when you experience the difficulties instead of complaining about it. So, you will never feel that you are working, instead you will feel you are doing the things which you are really enjoy and you will joyed from doing that job. This is how I feel after I have interviewed with Professor Lucero in class. Even though, Professor Lucero has so many difficulties in her early age, but she tried so hard and overcame these difficulties. Then, she chose the career that she passionate about, which is teaching and had become one the best professor in East Los Angeles College. It is clear that there is no one in the universe can have a choice about how we want to be born. Professor Lucero was born and grown up in Los Angeles, Alhambra. She was born in normal family as an only child. Her father had passed away at her age of 12. When she was age of 15, she dropped out from high school because of pregnancy. Her mother forced her to get married after she was pregnant, even though she was not willing to marry. So, all she thought about her very first marriage is to getting divorced. After her divorce, she started dating the man who is becomes her future husband and father of her two daughters. Then, she decided to go back to school that she supposed to finish at 18 years old. At her age of 32, she went back to high school with her older daughter to get high school diploma. After a few years, she came to East Los Angeles College for her Associate Degree. In 1974, she was majoring in journalism and got her Associate of arts journalism in her age of 35. Then, she transferred to four year college called California State University Los Angeles, California. She earned her Bachelor of Arts English (CSULA) in 1976 and she also finished her Master of Arts English in 1978 at CSULA. After I know about professor Lucero’s life experience, I thought she is a very fateful person. In the article of “Life Isn’t Fair- Deal with it” by Mike Myatt, he state that “We clearly have no choice about how we come into this world, we have little choice early in life, but as we grow older choices abound. I have long believed that while we have no control over the beginning of our life, the overwhelming majority of us have the ability to influence the outcomes we attain.” (Myatt). It is how professor Lucero did with her life. She knows what she wants and she is not giving up until she reaches her goals. Like, she was only thinking about divorce about the marriage that she did not want and she finished her education from high school to master degree. In addition, I also feel that professor is a very strong both physically and mentally. It is because going back to school for education at the age of 30s with her own daughter will be a very hard decision to make. She felt so many pressures and stress for making the decision of going back to school. She left her older daughter with a babysitter and bring her younger daughter with her to college because her younger daughter is too young to be babysit at that time. I really respect that she can manage her time very
