There are many causes of date rape and none of them fault the victim. One of the biggest causes is miscommunications like she said “no” but he heard “yes or maybe”. Another cause is drugs or alcohol, when anyone has too many drinks it becomes hard to know if what we are doing is right or wrong. It has also become more common for people to “spike” their victim’s drink, making them unable to give proper consent or even defend themselves. The third cause is men/ women who do not respect each other. When this happens the perpetrator will ignore the victim's wishes and do whatever they please. Its effects are similar to those of Valium (diazepam), but is about ten times stronger.
