Nurse anesthetists, also referred to as advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), coordinate patient care and may provide primary and specialty healthcare ("What They Do”). They provide great patient care while recording data, performing physical exams, and creating plans for patients. Taking care of the patient also includes performing or ordering diagnostic tests and analyzing the results, operating/monitoring equipment, examining the patient’s behavior and giving medical treatments according to their behavior, and analyzing the effects of the medicine(s). Nurse anesthetists also have to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and conduct research (“What They Do”). When becoming a nurse anesthetist, I will get to create a special bond with patients and help others out, which I love to do.
Career Information
I must be able to work and collaborate with the patients and other healthcare professionals to survive this job. A nurse is always under pressure, because the patients need to be attended to immediately (Roy). I would have to make sure certain levels are at where they are suppose to be while preparing a patient for surgery (Smith, p.108). They prescribe medication, order …show more content…
This job has its difficulties, but on the bright side I am helping others out. I will definitely need to be prepared for the stress that comes with this job, because death or survival of the patient is all up to the nurse sometimes. This job will be a great fit for my personality and me. While at work I would be able to create a bond with patients and help cure them. I will need to join a college and get a bachelor’s degree in nursing, an associate’s degree in nursing, or a diploma from an approved nursing program.
