Hamlet is known as logical thinker, and a smart character. It is very surprising that with these traits, he is unable to act on restoring the fairness to the throne of Denmark. His thought process actually ends up working against him, as he has many times throughout the play to act and kill Claudius. He uses logical thinking to cover up and hide behind excuses instead of seeking revenge on King Claudius. His tragic flaws are his inability to act, and make final decisions upon the goal he wants to reach. This problem creates a huge one in Hamlet because when he finally learns to act it is too late and he can’t turn back.
The expansion of Hamlets feelings towards his revenge play a major part in his tragic flaw. At the beginning of the play, you are able to see this right after Hamlet here’s news that his father was murdered. Hamlets feelings towards Claudius and desire to get revenge on him, have slowly gone away. Hamlet says, “Haste me to know ’t, that I, with wings as swift As meditation or the thoughts of love, May sweep to my revenge.” (Act ,Scene 5, Lines 29-31). Hamlets believe at this time nothing will stop him and I Fortinbras marched thousands of men to death over a small benefit that the could follow this example. AT this time in the play Hamlet has acted too late, after many chances he has had. This flaw has set up the fate of Hamlet and Throne of Denmark. Throughout the play, Hamlet’s tragic flaw is shown over time. Hamlet had many chances to kill Claudius but always acted with a reason to prolong it.
