“Out of 1,500 sets of twins, only 200 individuals survived the camp.” (Rubenstein 1) When Eva Mozes-Kor was a child she went through unimaginable abuse. She was sent to Auschwitz where she and her twin was the subject of dangerous experiments. She went through things no child should have to face. After all she was put through she chose to forgive the people who tormented her and moved on to make something of her life.
First, Eva’s life started out normal. She and her identical twin Miriam were born on January 31, 1934 in Portz, Transylvania, Romania. (Rubenstein 1) Because the girls were identical twins, Dr. Josef Mengele was interested in them.(Rubenstein 1) Dr. Mengele was known as the “Angel of Death.” (Rubenstein 1) Mengele did cruel things to the twins such as injecting them with deadly diseases, injecting them with chemicals, did experiments and constant testing, and even tried to change children’s genders and eye colors.
