1. Throughout the video and the article they discussed how humans get distracted by social media and how it has an effect on the human brain. One concept that can relate the article and the video from the textbook is attachment theory. This is human attachments that we make in the early years of life. The reason why this can connect the two is because the recent generation is growing up with the social media sites. As the generations start to grow up with the norm of using social media, the more likely that they are going to try to multitask. As it stated in the video multitasking with social media sites and different technology does not do any good for the ability to multitask when it comes to a time when humans need to be able to concentrate one device at a time. Another concept from the textbook that can connect the two is self-serving bias. The reason that I think this concept can connect the two is it two talked about putting things on social media that make you look good. And social serving bias is to attribute our successful behavior to others. From personal experience a lot of individuals post things on social media that makes them look good. Another concept from the textbook is mixed messages. The reason why I think this can connect the two is because they talk about social media and how relationships sometimes work out better when they start off from the internet. So with the talking over the computer there is a chance of miscommunication between the two in the relationship. Another concept that can connect the two to the textbook is listening. The reason this can connect them is by using social media you are not being able to communicate with others, and by not being able to do this they are losing out on the skills of communication that are needed for everyday life.
