Food waste in America has risen in the past years, as a matter of fact 31% of 430 billion pounds of food went uneaten. From those that have been thrown out 40-50% percent is from the market. To prevent food waste, there are one of many ways for people to take a stand against hunger. One way to end this epidemic is the idea of relabeling expiration dates on food from local supermarkets.
According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), about a third of all food produced worldwide has gone to waste just by how it is grown, or consumed. Therefore. more than 800 million people around the world struggle with hunger. Could it be that the food is passed the expiration date or consumers are just interpreting the misleading label itself?
