VACCINES FOR KIDS
Kids are recommended to get 26 vaccinations before the age of 10. Although there are ingredients that can be harmful to people, vaccinations have saved many people’s lives and can save a family money in the process to.
I. Concerns
A. One concern over the use of vaccinations is that some ingredients that are used in vaccines can be harmful to humans
1. Formaldehyde is. Formaldehyde is a human carcinogen, it also alters tissue protein antibodies, cardiac impairment, and numerous other side-effects (Vaccine Ingredients -- A Comprehensive Guide).
2. Thimerosal is a mercury based compound used to prevent contaminations in vaccines. The mercury is the cause for concern for people because mercury is harmful to a person’s nervous …show more content…
Certain ingredients can be harmful to humans but only in large quantities.
1. Thimerosal is a mercury containing compound that has been used to prevent contamination in vaccines. The use of Thimerosal in vaccines has caused people to speculate whether or not it has caused autism in children. Thimerosal has been studied extensively since the 1930s and has been proven that it is safe for people in small amounts ("Frequently Asked Questions about Thimerosal (Ethylmercury)").
2. However, Thimerosal has been removed or reduced to minuscule amounts for most vaccines in the last decade. Thimerosal has been removed from all childhood vaccines, with the exception of inactivated multi-dose flu vaccines. This was a precautionary move to help reduce the amount of mercury that newborns are exposed to ("Frequently Asked Questions about Thimerosal (Ethylmercury)").
3. Ingredients such as formaldehyde and aluminum are harmful if ingested in large quantities, quantities which are not present in vaccines. In addition, kids are exposed to more of these toxic materials from everyday encounters than they do from vaccines (Heyworth).
