People move to different homes and different parts of the country all the time. When people change locations, they may notice minor differences between the old place and the new one. Sometimes people move to other countries. This is usually a much bigger change then just changing cities, or states. At the same time there can also be many things that are similar. Say a student is moving from Ecuador to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. What will he or she have to adjust to? When moving to a new location, one may want to know what to expect.
First is Ecuador a small country in South America. Ecuador is about the size of Colorado, and around 14,000,000 people live there. There are no changes in season, because of being at the equator. The weather is mild in the mountains, and it’s hot and humid in the lowlands. In the center of the country lie the Andes Mountains, with jungles to the east, and a rich coastal plain to the west. Ecuador’s exports include petroleum, bananas, shrimp, and coffee. The official language is Spanish; however native languages are also used.
Next is Lancaster a mid-sized county in the state of Pennsylvania. About 500,000 people live in Lancaster County, including a large concentration of Amish. The weather is varied with four distinct seasons. It’s cold in the winter, hot in the summer and mild in the spring and fall. The landscape is vast with hills, valleys, wooded areas, and mountainous regions. Lancaster is home to many big companies including Armstrong World Industries, Auntie Anne’s, Wilbur Chocolate, and MapQuest. The official language is English; although many other languages are used.
