After this, Owen rescues Liz and their relationship is stronger than ever before. This scene definitely proves how much Liz’s perspective has changed throughout the book. She has finally realized how many good things have happened to her throughout her journey and how many good friends she has met.
Liz started off too attached to her old life on Earth and was unwilling to embrace her new one on Elsewhere. But by the end of the book, she definitely changes her perspective and becomes more accepting of what has happened to her. She comes to realize that taking those few steps into the street that day, and getting hit by that taxi isn’t the worst thing that has ever happened to her. Even though her previous life on Earth was great, she has come to a conclusion that the one she has on Elsewhere isn’t so bad after all.
