Hayley okines has made a lasting impact on the world. She made life seem amazing because Even though she knew that her life would end at any given moment she still told her story with her head held high. The reason that she knew that she might die is because she had a very progressive and rare disease called progeria. For these reason Hayley Okines was voted 2002 medal winner of the 2002 Children's courage awards. The reason that the judge also gave this award to Hayley was because He/She thought that: “She had a gift for making even the worst things better”. A lot of people complain because of the small things. Like. they have a cough or they didn't get what they wanted for christmas. Not Haley, she had every right to complain, but she never not once did , She had a very fatal disease known as progeria. Progeria is a rare syndrome in children characterized by physical signs and symptoms of premature old age. At the age of 14 (only 3 years before her death) Hayley Okines became an author. She wrote a book called Young At Heart .In the book one of her quotes is, “ People often ask me if I you had three wishes would you take away your progeria, and my answer is always no, don’t ask me why it's just because. All of these reasons above make Hayley Okines a great example to
