Heroism In Hotel Rwanda

Just less than two decades ago, horror took place within the country of Rwanda. Most of the events went unnoticed by the world when some of the worst terror took place. Hotel Rwanda was later produced as a film portraying the events that took place during the genocide. The film depicted several themes, one being how it takes one man to make a difference when it comes to saving lives, which can be seen through the main character himself, Paul Rusesabagina. His moral commitment and values as a man helped save the Tutsi’s from misery and possible death. A second theme is also present in the film which is how the international community failed to intervene during the genocide. In particular, the UN peacekeepers and the media played a big role in not fulfilling their responsibilities as international support. During this point in time, Rwanda endured a lot of grief, but ultimately was able to overcome the obstacles through the support of Paul Rusesabagina’s effort to end the genocide, and lacked support from the international community.
As shown in Hotel Rwanda, it only takes one man to make a difference when it comes to saving lives when acts of terror are taking place.
