sophy 1000C Plato’s allegory of the grave contained a hidden meaning to exemplify the truth or form of something. An allegory is a story that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. In this allegory, Plato describes a couple of prisoners that are chained up so that they could not move their bodies or heads to see what was going on. The only thing that they saw were these shadows of creature on the wall in front of them. These creatures were puppets that were displayed in front of a fire that casted a shadow on the wall for the prisoners to see. They all began talking amongst each other trying to figure out could possibly be behind them to cast such shadows. A few days went by, and one of the prisoners was allowed to leave the cave.
