Horses need a ratio of 1.2 and 1.8 calcium to 1 part of phosphorus. Cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, manganese, zinc, selenium can only be consumed in small amounts. Horses can only have a certain amount of food. A general horse needs 2 to 2 ½ pounds of grain/feed for every 100 pounds of weight. A horse weighing 1,000 pounds needs around 15 to 20 pounds of food.
