Victor decides to make a Mrs. Creature to see if his first creature would stop the reign of terror. Victor doesn't go through with it and dumps the body into the sea, “I took advantage of the moment of darkness, and cast my basket into the sea: I listened to the gurgling sound as it sunk, and then sailed away from the spot” (Shelley, p.159). Victors desperation gets him into more trouble. A couple villagers saw him ditch the basket into the sea, and a body later washed up onto the shore. Victor was accused for this act and spent two months in jail. Two months he will never be able to get back. The final quote is almost at the end of the book where Victor vows, “By the sacred earth on which I kneel, by the shades that claimed, I wander near me, by the deep and eternal grief that I feel, I swear; and by thee, O Night, and the spirits that preside over thee, to pursue the daemon who caused this misery until he or I shall perish in mortal conflict,”(Shelley, p.190). Victor swears to pursue the creature until he eradicates it. You can see how devoting your life to chasing down your own creation can be time
