Working as an independent student contractor for Canadian Property Stars involved establishing door-to-door sales with driveway sealing. DECA wasn’t just a simulation, it put students in a scenario where they are able to experience first-hand the practical business situation. One of the main learning outcomes I’ve taken from DECA is my improved confidence. Once terribly afraid of public speaking, I am now developing valuable interpersonal skills driving me forward to communicate more effectively. With my partner and me, we faced hardships and also failures, however, it was our moral that kept us prevailing and allowed us to learn from our mistakes from losing virtually nothing.
