III. The Mocking Jay is the third and final book of the Hunger Games series. The Mocking Jay is about Katniss, an inspirational girl who competed in the 74th and 75th annual Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is when two people, randomly selected, have to compete with other people from other districts in order to survive; the last one alive wins. Katniss needs to take on the role as the Mocking Jay in order to save her friends and permanently stop the annual Hunger Games. Many problems arise throughout the book when trying to shut down the Capitol. The Capitol is a highly developed community where President Snow lives. President Snow is in charge of the Hunger games and is also the one holding the other tributes captive.
IV. The main character in The Mocking Jay is Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is a strong, resourceful sixteen year old who seems more mature than her actual age. She is protective, always providing for her mother and sister. Also, Katniss is extremely smart and is always one step ahead of everyone else, whether it's when she's in battle with the capitol or when she's hunting for food.
V. "I feel the bow purring in my hand. Reach back and grasp the arrow. Position it, aim it at the rose, but watch his face. He coughs and a bloody dribble runs down his chin. His tongue flicks over his puffy lips. I search his eyes for the slightest sign of anything, fear, remorse, anger. But there's only the same look of amusement that ended our last conversation. It's as if he's speaking the words again. 'Oh, my dear Miss Everdeen.
